10 AM – Get reacquainted + Introductions of DNRs new landowner Regulation Assistance Foresters

10:15 AM – Walk with lifetime Audubon members (Daughter & Son-in-Law) looking for Birds and Habitat through managed and unmanaged forestlands – bring your binoculars

12 Noon – Lunch hosted by WFFA, & Retirement Celebration for Heather Hansen & Steve Barnowe-Meyer

1:30 PM – Walking Tour of Horribles, including many challenges & successes of rehabilitation efforts on really tough ground:  Multiple species experiments; road building mistakes; pre-commercial thinning; this past winter’s harvest of decadent hardwood stands; logging slash pile burning; hazardous material disposition; trail building for personal and neighborhood use.

Driving Directions to 12116 Scott Creek Loop SW, Olympia (GPS will take you to our mailbox, and gravel driveway)

Directions From North: 1-5 south to exit #99, then left back over freeway on 93rd (also called State Highway #121 South) to 4-way stop sign (at Case Road); then right (south) to 5-way stop signs at entrance to Scott Lake Community.  Take road on left side of gas station into Scott Lake Community and go straight when you come to two separate stop signs, ultimately then across the golf course to the green address sign “12116”.  Take gravel road at sign, then left at the golf ball topped stump to our barn.

Directions From South: I-5 north to exit #95; then left back under I-5; go past the Farm Boy restaurant then right on Case Road ending at a stop sign; turn right back over 1-5 to 5-way stop signs at entrance to Scott Lake Community.  Take road on left side of gas station into Scottt Lake community and go straight at two separate stop signs; then across the golf course to green address sign “12116.  Take gravel road at sign, then left at the golf ball topped stump to our barn.
