Steven D. Stinson Leadership in Natural Resources Scholarship

The WFFA Scholarship in Natural Resources was started in May 2014 with a generous donation from Port Blakely Tree Farms in celebration of their 150th anniversary. Shortly thereafter it was named the Steven D. Stinson Leadership in Natural Resources Scholarship in honor of Steve’s extraordinary contributions to the small forest landowner community.  Additional generous contributions made in Steve's name by individuals, chapters, and raffle proceeds from the 2015, 2016 and 2017 WFFA Annual Meetings have allowed us to create a perpetual scholarship fund that supports our core beliefs as Stewards of the Land, for Generations to Come.

The 2019 Steven D. Stinson Leadership in Natural Resources Scholarships were awarded to Colleen Purefoy, Justin Stanley and Dylan Streeter.

  • Colleen Purefoy, from Hoquiam, has entered the Bachelors program for Forest Resources Management at Grays Harbor Community College. She attended our Annual Meeting and graciously accepted her scholarship there. Colleen was also the winner of this year’s Stihl MS 271 Farm Boss chainsaw donated by our Upper Puget Sound Chapter. • Justin Stanley, from Okanogan, is pursuing a degreee in Rangeland Management at the University of Idaho (U of I) in Moscow, Idaho. Please click here to view his scholarship award page.
  • Dylan Streeter, from Okanogon, is pursuing a degree in Forestry at the U of I. Please click here to view his scholarship award page.

As it was finals week immediately after our Annual Meeting, neither Justin nor Dylan were able to attend the event, but they sent us a wonderful video with their thanks...
