In January 2026, Kea talked to us about Silvaseed Company and their process of cone collection, seed cleaning and seedling production. She offered a tour of their seed processing facility, so we are doing a tour in October instead of our usual indoor meeting.
The tour will cover their cone and seed processing operations, so we will be seeing their “cone barn” where cones are stored and organized, the large progressive kiln where they essentially cook the cones to extract the seeds, then we’ll move on to the seed building where the seed is cleaned, tested, and stored.
The tour will be mostly indoors except for moving between buildings. Closed toed shoes are required.
