Twilight Tour of the Kunze’s farm, 26001 NE 219th St. Battle Ground, WA 98604, took place on August 13, 2026, at 6pm. Gus welcomed members to the family tree farm with hot dogs, beans and chips! Twilight tour participants witnessed what it means to be good stewards of the land as they walked through a portion of the Kunze’s Family Tree Farm. Meandering along a main access road, one noticed numerous points of access meant to facilitate stand management. Something not typically found on tree farms but indeed part of the Kunze’s farm – frost free spigots along with a waterwheel! A nice stand of Douglas fir, thinned about three years ago, stood tall with little understory. A management goal is to remove low limbs and underbrush to minimize fire fuel. The climb up the hill was worth the sight of the pond and spectacular view, which was accentuated by the sunset. The Kunze’s continue the work of their parents in stewarding the land. A big thank you to the Kunze family for sharing their farm and forest management methods. And thank you Gus, for the warm welcome and tour.

We appreciate Wayne and Sue for their hospitality and sharing such a fascinating collection.
