June  22.   Tour of Sierra Pacific mill in Shelton.  Meet at 2:00 pm at the main office.  RSVP [email protected]. Only 20 spots available.
Sierra Pacific Industries spent $100 million building this state of the art mill, which opened in 2016. Sierra Pacific has invested more than a billion dollars in Washington, buying timberlands and 4 sawmills. They own 291,000 acres of timberland in WA, and combined with their California holdings, they are the 3rd largest landowner in the nation!  (Statistics from Forbes Magazine article May 14, 2018.)
Tour will be about an hour. Wear closed toed shoes, and avoid clothing with cords, scarves, or other attachments that could get caught in machinery.
Directions: Head to Shelton. Address is 421 S. Front Street, Shelton, WA, 98584. Highway 3 automatically turns into S. 1st Street. Turn right on E. Kneeland St, and right on S. Front Street. (Call Dick Alescio if additional directions are needed (206) 265-1495.)
July 28th, Annual Summer Potluck Picnic will be held at the Kingsbury Tree Farm. The Kingsbury Tree Farm won Tree Farmer of the Year in 2017, and they are currently in the contest for Regional Tree Farm!
Bring a salad or dessert and serving utensil if needed. Main course, beverages, napkins, and flatware will be provided.  A reminder and directions will be available in July.
August. Possible tour of Canyon Lumber in Everett. Specific information will be available in July.
