Spokane Chapter Meeting - October 8, 2016
Tour of Conley Tree Farm -- Living with Fire, Neighbors, Critters and Trees
Welcome to our Autumn field tour on Saturday October 8th, just north of Spokane at Dan and Wit Conley's' tree farm. To begin with: the sign in & meet and greet starts at 8:30 at the first stop which will be at the brand new fire station on Elk-Chattaroy Rd. To get there travel 16 miles from the North Division “Y” (or 13 miles from Yokes and Mt. Spokane Park Drive on Hwy. 2). Go East(right) at the Waste to Energy plant onto the Elk-Chattaroy road. From there head 7.5 miles to the new District 4 fire station which will be on your right. We will have coffee, juice and doughnuts there and a brief presentation. . .
From here, we can car pool(if desired) to the Conley tree farm at 15510 Deer Creek Rd. about 4 miles away. The Conley's have been very busy with their tree farm and want to share their insights with you!
There will be presentations from Steve McConnell, W.S.U. Extension forester, the Department of Natural Resources and others. There will be lots of interesting forestry topics to look at and talk about. Including sharing ideas about emergency preparedness. If you have an experience or idea that has helped or hurt your neighborhood in an emergency please share it. We are putting together a list of things however big or small that could help our neighborhoods survive fire and other emergencies.
Do bring a friend and sack lunch to share the day. We will provide a variety of beverages and snacks.
