Upcoming Meetings

June 17th  A field tour at the Port Gamble Heritage Park Tree Farm hosted by Arno Bergstrom, WSU Senior Forester Emeritus, and current Kitsap County Forester.  Arno will guide us on a walk through the tree farm to explain the extensive thinning done, with applications to our own tree stands.
 
          Location:  Just south of Port Gamble on Port Gamble Road. Look for WFFA
                             signs.
          Time:  12:00 – 2:00 P.M.
          Amount of walking:  About 1.5 miles on fairly smooth, level logging roads.
                             Bring a stick or trekking pole if desired.
          Porta Potty or other facilities available?  Yes.
          Food/Beverages: Snacks will be available at 11:30 – 12:00.  (Eat lunch
                              before or after.) Bring your own water bottle.
 
July 5th Summer Potluck Picnic and tour of how Herm Nelson has developed his tree farm to optimize additional forest products. Herm has been very successful harvesting and selling forest products – he purchased all the timberland he owns with proceeds from forest products!
 
August 4thTwilight tour of Helen and Drew Daly’s Tree Farm.  View and discuss experiences of recent thinning.  Coffee/tea, desert after.
