Manke Lumber

Hartstine Island Tree Farm

 

When:     Wednesday, May 12th, 2010.  Departing from the Pickering Passage Park and Ride at 6 PM

 

Who:       Mr. Joel Manke, Forest Manager of Manke Lumber will be our host.

 

What:      These are some wonderful 80 year plus Douglas Fir stands that have been thinned and managed since purchased from Weyerhaeuser several years ago.  The tree farm is located on the flat topography of Harstene Island with the majority of the property a site class III.

 

               Bring your forestland neighbor to see an example of a well managed stand of timber.

 

Where:    Pickering Passage Park & Ride on Highway #3 approx 7.6 miles NE of downtown Shelton.  From Olympia, take first Shelton exit (Olympic Highway & State #3) for 3.4 miles to downtown Shelton (1st Street & Pine - ProBuild lumber yard) where State Highway #3 continues right/east.  From the lumberyard follow Highway #3 for 7.6 miles to the Park & Ride on the right at Pickering Passage Road.  This is prox. ½ mile north of milepost 10.  We will leave this Park & Ride at 6 PM to caravan to the tree farm.
