July 11 Meeting - Seedling Growth & Riparian Buffers

WHEN:    Wednesday, July 11, 2007.  We will have pizza and refreshments at 6:30 PM and the meeting/presentations will start at 7 PM.

WHAT:     Learn more results of research in Capitol Forest. 

 

Primary topics to be covered are:

  • Growth of three conifer species in response to differing overstory and understory competition
  • Response of several small, invertebrate species (critters without backbones) to three different riparian buffer-widths along headwater streams

WHERE: USDA's Pacific NW Research Lab on 93rd Street near Webster Nursery. 

 

Directions:  From I-5, take exit #99 (93rd Ave.) west 0.9 miles to the Forestry Sciences Laboratory on the left (south) at 3625 93rd.Ave SW. Park in front lot  or side lot via Jones road (next street  off 93rd) If lost, call  753-7747.

Report of June Meeting
About 30 folks from SSFFA and Audubon built nearly 40 bird houses and took the thinning tour with Tony Sachet.
